Lummi Nation School

Where students learn through Schelangen (our way of life): academics, community, and culture.

Core Values

At Lummi Nation School, our core values are grounded in Schelangen—our way of life—guiding how we teach, learn, and care for one another each day. These values shape our school culture and ensure that every student is supported in becoming a confident learner, a strong community member, and a respectful representative of Lummi Nation.

Our core values reflect Schelangen in action—helping our students grow not only academically, but as thoughtful, respectful, and engaged members of their community.

  • Respect

We honor ourselves, one another, and our community. Students learn to show kindness, listen with intention, and value the voices and experiences of others.
  • Responsibility

We take ownership of our actions, our learning, and our impact. Students are encouraged to be accountable, make positive choices, and contribute to a safe and supportive environment.
  • Community

We are stronger together. Our school fosters a sense of belonging where students, families, and staff work in partnership and support one another.
  • Cultural Pride

We celebrate and uphold Lummi identity, traditions, and values. Students are encouraged to carry their culture with pride as they grow and represent their community.

Building Tomorrow, Together

We partner with families and the broader Lummi community to uphold these values together. By working as one, we create a supportive environment where students feel connected, encouraged, and empowered to succeed both in school and in life.
