Curriculum Evaluation

As part of our five-year curriculum review cycle, we are evaluating key areas of our K–12 program, including Elementary Health, Middle School ELA, High School Math, and High School Science, with potential new curriculum adoption in each. Our educators and staff are working together to ensure all materials are high-quality, culturally responsive, and aligned with state standards and student needs.

Six Year Adoption Cycle

To adequately support student learning, Lummi Nation School has adopted a five-year cycle of curriculum review, with program adoption during the sixth year. This format ensures that programs have the opportunity to operate with fidelity and accurately portray student growth potential. If warranted, a program can be reviewed on an earlier cycle at the discretion of Lummi Nation School Administration or the Lummi Education Board.

Elementary Curriculum

Our elementary curriculum builds a strong academic foundation while reflecting Schelangen—our way of life. Students engage in literacy, math, science, and health through hands-on, culturally connected learning that supports both skill development and identity. Instruction is designed to meet diverse learning needs while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

Middle & High School Curriculum

Our middle and high school curriculum prepares students for success beyond graduation while staying grounded in Schelangen—our way of life. Students engage in rigorous coursework across core subjects, with opportunities for real-world learning, career exploration, and leadership. Instruction supports academic growth, critical thinking, and cultural connection, helping students build confidence in who they are and where they’re going.
