Save the Date: Free Community Event: “Respect the Rez” Documentary Screening – May 9
Dear Lummi Nation School Families and Staff,
We are excited to invite you to a special evening celebrating the pride, resilience, and spirit of our Lummi Nation Blackhawks.
On Saturday, May 9, we will be hosting a screening of the Cascadia Daily News documentary “Respect the Rez: Inside the Lummi Blackhawks' Title-or-Bust Season” at the Silver Reef Casino Event Center.
This is a FREE event for the Lummi community, and we encourage all families and staff to attend.
Event Details:
4:30 – 5:00 PM: Beverage Service (coffee, soda, tea, water)
5:00 – 6:00 PM: Dinner (buffet-style)
6:00 – 6:15 PM: Film Introduction
6:15 – 7:00 PM: Film Screening
7:00 – 7:30 PM: Audience Q&A with filmmakers and team members
7:30 – 7:45 PM: Closing Remarks
Dinner, popcorn, beverages, and snacks will be provided.
This documentary follows the Blackhawks from preseason through the state tournament, showcasing how their journey represents something much bigger than basketball—community, resilience, and pride.
We encourage everyone to save the date and join us for this meaningful and inspiring evening. Come support our student-athletes and celebrate the story behind an incredible season.
